Hi, I’m Gen, the heart and soul behind The Yoga Den. My mission as a yoga teacher is simple: to create a safe and nurturing space where everyone—no matter their background, ability, or life stage—can explore the incredible benefits of yoga. Whether you're here to find peace, improve your well-being, or simply try something new, I’m here to support you every step of the way.
Yoga has been my rock through life’s ups and downs, a loyal companion in tough times and a source of comfort in quieter moments. It’s not just about the poses; it’s about balance—mentally, emotionally, and physically. I truly believe yoga has the power to guide us toward harmony and a deeper connection with ourselves. It’s compassionate, transformative, and, much like life, always evolving.
I was born in sunny South Africa but found my way to Ireland via the UK and Australia, landing in beautiful Cork in 2000. Now, I’m the proud mom of four amazing boys and married to my wonderful Irish husband.
Movement and music have always been part of my life. I started ballet at the age of 4 and continued until my teenage years when my family relocated to the UK. It was there that my yoga journey began. But it wasn’t until I moved to Ireland and attended classes with Charlie Stevens that yoga truly made its impact. His teachings and encouragement inspired me to take the leap and train as a yoga teacher.
In 2003, I completed my yoga teacher training with the Yoga Therapy and Training Centre in Cork. Over the years, I’ve continued to learn and grow, earning certifications in Perinatal Yoga, Mother & Baby Yoga, and Yoga for the Stages of Menopause. Influenced by incredible teachers like Vanda Scaravelli and Adriene Mishler, my love for yoga continues to deepen, enriched by my background in dance and movement. I just recently completed my Sound Bath training and I’m delighted to offer group sound baths using Tibetan singing bowls, weaving the healing power of sound into some of my future events.
